A Polynomial-Bisimilar Normalization for Reset Petri Nets
نویسندگان
چکیده
Reset Petri nets extend Petri nets by allowing transitions to empty places, in addition with the usual adding of removing of constants. A Reset Petri net is normalized if the ow function over the Petri arcs (labeled with integers) and the initial state are valuated into f0; 1g. In this paper, we give an eecient method to turn a general Reset Petri net into a-bisimilar normalized Reset Petri net. Our normalization preserves the main usually studied properties : Boundedness, Reachability, t-Liveness and Language (through a-labeling function). The main contribution is the improvement of the complexity : our algorithm takes a time in O(size(N) 2), for a Reset Petri net N, while other known normalizations require an exponential space and are presented for Petri nets only.

Statecharting Petri Nets
A polynomial algorithm that translates a Petri net into an equivalent (bisimilar) statechart is presented. The translation preserves the structure of the Petri net. Key property of the algorithm is that it is structural and does not use any Petri net analysis technique. The algorithm is formally proven correct. Though not every statechart equivalent to a net is constructible by the algorithm, t...
متن کاملReduction Rules For Reset WorkFlow Nets
When a workflow contains a large number of tasks and involves complex control flow dependencies, verification can take too much time or it may even be impossible. Reduction rules can be used to abstract from certain transitions and places in a large net and thus could cut down the size of the net used for verification. Petri nets have been proposed to model and analyse workflows and Petri nets ...
متن کاملOn the expressive power of Petri nets with transfer arcs vs. Petri nets with reset arcs
In this paper, we revisit the conjecture of [1], stating that ε-free Petri nets with transfer arcs are strictly more expressive than ε-free Petri nets with reset arcs. In [1], an ε-free Petri net with transfer arcs is provided, whose language is conjectured not to be recognizable by any ε-free Petri net with reset arcs. We show that this latter conjecture is flawed, by exhibiting an ε-free Petr...
متن کاملTimed-Arc Petri Nets vs. Networks of Timed Automata
We establish mutual translations between the classes of 1safe timed-arc Petri nets (and its extension with testing arcs) and networks of timed automata (and its subclass where every clock used in the guard has to be reset). The presented translations are very tight (up to isomorphism of labelled transition systems with time). This provides a convenient characterization from the theoretical poin...
متن کاملOn the Expressive Power of Timed Automata and Time Petri Nets
This presentation is based on joint work with F. Cassez*, S. Haddad**, D. Lime* and O. H. Roux* (*IRCCyN, Nantes and **LSV, Cachan), published in the proceedings of ATVA’05, CONCUR’05, FSTTCS’05, with an extended version of the third paper to appear in Theoretical Computer Science. The aim of this work was to compare the expressive power of Timed Automata (TA) and Time Petri Nets (TPN). Time Pe...
